Highlight, then comment, loses highlight?

My student pointed this out today. She would highlight some text, then add a comment (after she highlighted, she would hover and use the comment button that seemed to be associated with that highlight). The highlight goes away.

I have tested this and gotten the same results. I briefly thought I had made it work. Highlighted, commented and had the comment persist in connection to the highlight.

Is this a bug or am I missing a vital step to connect these two?

Thanks for letting us know! We’re working on it.

In the meantime, I would suggest using the comment button directly, as this automatically highlights the section you are commenting on.
