Text to speech is spelling instead of reading

Today when I went to use the Text to speech feature it was broken into letters not words. All the voices did was spell what was on the pages instead of reading the words. Is it a setting problem or is there something wrong with the PDF. How can I fix this issue or is there a fix?

Are there spaces in between the letters of each word? If so, remove those spaces, but NOT the spaces that separate the words. Hope this helps!

Thank you for responding. Is there a way to take out the spaces between letters. It is a type written PDF.

What do you mean by “a type written PDF”?

Full version of Acrobat Pro will let you edit pdfs. Or copy the text into a Word document, edit it and save it as a pdf.
