Kami is Offline, but my Chromebook isn't


I work IT in a School District, I have had several students come down recently with their Kami apps saying "Kami is offline in the top right hand corner, even though their Chromebooks are online and able to get to any websites and such. Anyone else ran into this? Anyone have a solution?


Were you able to solve this problem? We are having the same issue and I can not see to correct it.

Same issue here. I have tried rebooting the device and reloading the students profile in the chrome browser. Nothing has worked so far.


This could be caused by your network blocking access to Kami - We have a help article at https://help.kamihq.com/getting-started-with-schools-license/kami-network-requirements with the information on what should be unblocked to get Kami working. A way to test if this is the problem is to create a hotspot on your phone and connect the chromebook to that, and see if you still get the Kami is Offline message.

Another thing to try if you get this error: Going to https://web.kamihq.com/web/clearcache.html will clear the Kami cache, and it might help in this situation. Note that visiting that will clear out all the Kami data, so unsaved changes on that device will be lost.


I’m having this issue too. I’m working at home, so it’s not my network blocking access, and clearing the cache didn’t help.
